Conservative Voters Looking for Fumble from Obama

Conservative voters want to see President Obama fumble and that may be something that is going to happen even if the President does his best to maintain his hold. The problem may be out of his hands. In recent weeks, we have heard some great things about the US economy, namely that the increase in jobs and the reduction of unemployment numbers is a very good thing. However, an impending doom occurring could knock the Republican candidates into place for the next term.

One of the biggest factors that affect the willingness of the American public to put a president into office has to do with his or her ability to control the economy. When the economy is going strong, consumers want the same person in place. When it is in trouble, on the other hand, it may feel like now is a good time to look for someone else.

The problem for Obama, though, is that there are a number of "what if's" hanging in the balance that could topple his presidency. Namely, gas prices are on the rise. When the price of gas increases, this affects the overall cost of everything. From the bread you buy to the cost to fuel equipment to produce products in a factory, the cost of gas increases hurts the whole economy. This is even worse when they maintain a high price since this pushes inflation higher. The problem is, gas prices in the US are on the way up, averaging close to $4 a gallon in many areas of the country.

Conservatives – What Does Jobs Report Mean to Obama?

For those conservative voters who simply cannot wait for November to roll around, the fact is, this latest jobs report can seem worrisome. With Americans see that Obama's creating jobs and therefore stick with him even when many of the moves he has taken have been anything but beneficial to creating those jobs? While some worry that the creation of 243,000 jobs in the month of January and the drop in unemployment to 8.3 percent is troublesome for voters who want a replacement in the White House, there's more to think about than just those figures.

What's Important to See

There is more to voting in a President than just looking at unemployment numbers. Keep in mind that the actual number of people unemployed in the country continues to change and it is not being reported accurately. For example, the Department of Labor is not counting all people who are looking for work. Rather, they are counting only those actively looking for work and taking an unemployment check. They are not counting or reporting on the millions of people who are under employed (not in the positions they need to be in to care for their family financially ) or those who have dropped out of the process of actively looking because of the lack of positions available.

While the unemployment numbers continue to improve, they are not a full estimate of what is happening in the country. Before consumers plan to head to the polls, it would be wise to consider all of the facts, not just those that the Obama Administration would like to showcase. There are people getting jobs. There are new jobs being created. There are millions of Americans still looking and in desperate need of jobs, though.

Conservative Voters Get Ready for More Primaries

The primary elections provide a great deal of information to the voting public. As each state takes its turn to nominate and discuss the options for the 2012 presidential nomination for the Republican Party, there is no doubt that conservative values are on the line. The current three frontrunners include Mitt Romney, Rick Santorum and Newt Gingrich. In recent days, Santorum has won numerous votes and has come out to be a true contender against Romney, who, until this previous week, was seen as a near shoe in for the vote after beating Gingrich in key states.

The question is, who will you vote for? From the conservative voter's opinion, all three have something to offer, though most would argue each one has a great deal of lacking as well. Romney tends to be a favorite among some conservative voters because of his strong Mormon background. However, Santorum is a Catholic and has a very strong anti abortion record. It is likely to play well in the field in the upcoming three primaries.

The stage is set for the next votes. Colorado, Missouri and Minnesota are next in the primaries. The question is which one of the three current frontrunners will take these positions. Many believe that Santorum has a real chance to capture the lead if he can continue to win these states as he did in the last few days.

Conservative Voters in Florida

When it comes down to it, conservative voters in the United States will be looking very questioningly at each of the candidates and determining which one is going to be the best choice to protect their values moving forward. Some think that wealth has something to do with it all. Mitt Romney, considered by some a frontrunner for the conservative vote, spent his time in Florida this week displaying his ability to connect. However, some polls indicate that Romney may be too wealthy to be attractive to these voters. Is that your opinion?

Recent news reports that indicate that Romney paid a mere 14 percent in income tax last year soured many Americans to him. Of course, it is not his fault that the tax system provides such a limited accounting for those who are wealthy. Nevertheless, some have turned a bad taste in their mouth - can someone that is this wealthy really be conservative enough? The working class simply does not appreciate this indication.

Newt Gingrich, who definitely has some mixed conservative values due to his past, seems to be getting a more positive vibe in Florida. He is more of the type of person that individuals can identify with and because of that, he just may win the primary election there.

Conservative Voters Wonder About New Hampshire

New Hampshire is the next target spot for the presidential nomination process. Conservative voters are watching and waiting to learn what the New Hampshire caucus will mean for the race to the next president. Those in the state are not making it easy on candidates, though. The goal here is to understand the true ideas and viewpoints of candidates and that is what New Hampshire voters are looking for prior to casting their vote.

What's the Situation?

This week, after Mitt Romney took the narrow win in Iowa, all eyes were on New Hampshire for the second vote in the process. Some of the candidates are finding the state's voters more demanding and less forgiving. Candidate Santorum, for example, fielded tough questions regarding his stance on gays in the military, abortion, gay marriage and health care challenges. As a Roman Catholic, some of his views are very significantly conservative. However, those in the audience may not have been as conservative, often jeering him.

In New Hampshire, there is a significant number of independent voters who could be swayed by one of these candidates. However, many of them have very limited willingness. Gay marriage is legal in the state, for example. Can any of these conservative candidates come out on top?

As we look to the upcoming votes for Conservatives, it looks like candidates will spend a great deal of time focusing on just how conservative they are and how much they are willing to bend to get a vote. That could be the turning point for some candidates at this point.

Conservative Voters - Is Santorum the Constant Conservative?

Conservative voters will play a huge role in the Iowa caucus that is happening in just days. As it plays out, the Republican candidates are taking to the media and promising that they are the conservative vote that many of those voters are looking for, but before you decide, consider their records and their promises. According to Santorum, he is the only candidate for the Presidential election that is the constant conservative.

Who Is the Conservative?

There are many candidates vying for the position of Republican nominee and many are focusing on getting the conservative vote. Santorum promises that he is the best choice saying that he's the only candidate that people are not questioning. He states that he has visited every county in Iowa and that, although he has been at the back of the pack for a long time, he is the only one that has the credentials to back up his conservative claims.

So, what is the truth about Santorum? He is a father of seven children, the youngest at just two. He is a devout Catholic, which could work against in among some voters. He does believe that religion plays a big part of his public life, not just his private life. More so, he's a hard working, immigrant's son. All of these qualities do add to his conservative appeal.

How Santorum does in the Iowa polls still remains to be seen. However, for some, he is one of the candidates that people will need to watch out for moving forward.

Is Ron Paul the Conservative Voter's Ideal Candidate?

As the Iowa primaries come closer and closer, many are looking at who will come out on top for the conservative voter. Conservatives will play an important role in the decision of who will be president in 2012. However, there are several candidates that have gotten the attention of the conservative voter. Some, like Ron Paul seem to be topping the list of the most liked by this important group of voters.

Congressman Ron Paul does have a number of highly conservative points of view. One of the sticking points thus far, though, has been the foreign policy views of this candidate. However, Paul has taken steps to change the mindset of these voters in recent days. Many conservatives have an aggressive viewpoint on foreign policy, which is not what Paul's plan has been. He is a very big non-interventionalist.

What is giving conservative voters the push towards Paul? For some it is because other GOP candidates, including Mitt Romney and Newt Gingrich have other viewpoints that are less in line with the conservative voter's needs. Many do not like these two candidates and their "big government" viewpoints. This has pushed many conservative voters more in line with Ron Paul as an alternative.

The Conservative Vote Push

Ahead of the big Iowa presidential preliminary voting, there is no doubt that a push by candidates is likely to happen. Some of them, though are focusing on the social conservative's vote. Some are holding town hall meetings in rural portions of the state to encourage conservative voters to back top candidates. Will these meetings help to encourage voters?

Who To Pay Attention To

Conservative voters will have a handful of presidential hopefuls to focus on when it comes to those focusing on these voters. For example, Rick Santorum is working to push himself as the best choice for social conservative voters. His angle is that he will put the family first in decisions. Michele Bachmann is also pushing her positions on conservative voters.

Perhaps the biggest push by a candidate for these votes is coming from Texas Governor Rick Perry. Santorum and others have subjected Perry to criticism, though. The concern focuses on Perry's promises to make Congress a part time legislature and to provide more power to the executive branch, something not all conservatives are interested in seeing happy.

However, there is also a push to define themselves from President Obama, too. Differentiating themselves from Obama's more liberal points of view is something several of these candidates is doing to ensure they stand out.

Pushing Into The Senate

Former Wisconsin governor Tommy Thompson has all intentions of claiming one of the Senate seats for the state of Wisconsin. He faces one large obstacle on his quest however. That is history. He is looking to claim a seat that has been under the control of democrats for over 50 years. This is not to say that he will not be able to claim a seat. He has the pedigree and the experience to be able a position of such responsibility. However, he needs to look at who is opposing and what type of support he will garner.

How He Can Win

Just as in the last election, the people are looking for change. After dealing with a complete democratic capitol hill, there was little to no change that took place that w as good. This is definitely in his favor as many people are looking towards a switch in parties in order to speed up progress and to get the country back in good shape.

He has the endorsement of many people including Mark Green a former congressional representative from Wisconsin as well as former ambassador to Tanzania. Thompson is seeking the seat being vacated by Herb Kohl and is trying to be able to show he can work to make the country better. He falls back on his success as governor and how he was able to lower taxes and improve schools even while working with a democratic legislature. His platform is that he wants to make it better, nit by party but for the people.

Defending the Marriage Act a Fight for Conservative Voters

Conservative voters may have a strong opinion of what constitutes marriage. They may have a fight on their hands as they work to defend the Defense of Marriage Act. Democrats in Congress are pushing to repeal the law, which allows for marriage to be a union only recognized when it is between a man and woman, therefore excluding gay marriage. Gay marriage supports, who fall behind the ranks of many Democrats in Congress are pushing hard to get this federal law repealed prior to the elections to take place in 2012. It is likely to be a hot topic in the elections themselves.

The bill in Congress to repeal the law may hit high water sooner than expected, though. While the Senate Judiciary Committee did approve it just last week, the chief sponsor of the bill, Senator Dianne Feinstein a Democrat from California, is blunt about the fact that she does not have enough votes in the full Senate to pass it. More so, if the bill did make it to the House, which remains Republican conservative controlled, it would be dead on arrival.

Some believe that the bill is just for show - to show the constituents that they took action to pull back the Defense of Marriage Law. However, many conservative voters are pushing to ensure that the bill remains on the books for a long time. In a quote given by Senator Charles Grassley, a Republican from Iowa, he mentions the following. "Traditional marriage between a man and a woman has been the foundation of our society for 6000 years." He continues, "The Defense of Marriage Act protects this sacred institution, which I believe in, and attempts to dismantle this law are likely to be met with a great deal of resistance."
